Autumn Foliage Destinations in Seoul

13:50

Hello all!

As we are moving into the month of October, the temperature is also falling correspondingly and we are finally experiencing Autumn here in South Korea! This week's #wowkoreasupporters mission is to introduce two scenic foliage destinations here, that is perfect for the season. Well, personally it is so hard for me to choose only 2 attractions because there are simply too many to choose from! South Korea is a country filled with beautiful nature scenery, all over different provinces (beyond Seoul).

Since I am living in Seoul and most of you who are visiting Korea might be mainly staying around in Seoul metropolitan city, let me introduce two destinations you may want to visit this Autumn!

Haneul Park 하늘공원

Also known as Sky Park (Haneul means sky in Korean), is one of the five segments of the World Cup Park. As literal as it means, the park is located at the highest elevation in the area. In order to get to the top of the park, you will have to climb up a flight of 290 steps (or take the hiking trail). Upon reaching the top of the park, you are greeted with a beautiful view of the city. This place is popular for its tall redwood trees alongside the path that you will be walking on.

How to get there?
By Subway, get off at World Cup Stadium (Line 6) and Exit 1.  Walk for about 20 minutes towards the sign saying 'Haneul Park' and cross the bridge (seen above). Once you arrive at the stairs, turn left and go straight until you get to the Redwood Tree Path.

Olympic Park 울림픽공원

Not to be misunderstood for World Cup Park, Olympic Park is the legacy and home to the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Besides the state-of-art stadium facilities, the park is also known for its beautiful foliage scenes especially in Spring and Autumn.

One of the top 9 attractive spots listed in the official website (click here) is the Wild Flower Garden as seen above. During Autumn, pretty yellow cosmos can be seen blooming across the entire garden.

As the entire park is really huge, you may want to refer to the above map for directions.

How to get there?
By Subway, get off at either Olympic Park Station (Line 5) and Exit 3 or Mongchongtoseong Station (Line 8) and Exit 1

Undoubtedly, there are many more places (also out of Seoul) that are beautiful during the Autumn season. For the list of Fall Foliage Destinations in Seoul, you can refer to the list here :) Seriously, time is passing way too fast! We are in the month of October now and I'd be off for the last #wowkoreasupporters field trip tomorrow before we conclude for the year!

Til then,
